Shearers’ ride

On 07, May 2014 | No Comments | In Happenings | By Gavin Bannerman

A lot of people loved Lyle Paull’s shearer’s bike at Pushies Galore 2013. An honest, working bike, packed and ready to go. Rob Cobcroft has a great article on shearer’s bikes, including Lyle’s, on his site here.

Lyle and and a group of fellow vintage bike lovers have just finished a “shearers’ ride”: 600km over 10 days from Broken Hill to Bourke. The route followed that taken by swagmen and shearers during the late 19th/early 20th century along the Darling River. Bikes ridden were all of the era. For more info on such rides, head over to the Queensland Penny Farthing and Historical Bicycle Club site.
