We’ve got a few special displays of bikes for this year’s event. Just as a way of grouping a set of bikes together – whether it be the owner or function that they have in common.
The first display will be of a selection of bikes from Alan Telfer’s private collection. His bikes featured heavily in the 2012 publication Racing Bicycles: 100 Years of Steel. Alan is a lovely fella with an acute knowledge of vintage steel.
Four shearers’ bikes will form the second display. These are some of the bikes ridden on the recent shearers’ ride from Broken Hill to Bourke.
And the third display will be a little homage to recumbents. Some people are disparaging of recumbents, but since I featured Aaron Ball’s in the 2010 exhibition Biking Brisbane, I’ve been amazed how interested people are in them. They want to know what it’s like – can people see you? Can you climb hills? There will an opportunity to answer all your recumbent questions at the display, plus you can read a bit more here.
