Queensland’s cycling community has lost one of its great characters. James Macdonald passed away on 4 February 2014.
To describe James simply as a collector does not adequately describe how deeply bikes infused his outlook on life. He had a deep understanding of history and people. He had an encyclopedic knowledge of cycling history and was a firm believer that bikes were there to be ridden. He will be greatly missed by all bike lovers. Anyone that met James will never forget him. Our sincerest wishes go to his family.
Dean Saffron created a video of James. If you’ve not seen it, I recommend you do. If you have seen it, take a few minutes to remember a remarkable man. See it here.
In the video, James gives the following observation, “these bikes are immortal; we’re all going to die but they’re going to go on.”
Thank you James.
